The Recovery-Archive

The Recovery-Archive is our premier D2D2D rotational archiving appliance. It supports rack-mount Unitrends appliances and through the use of eSATA is a very affordable solution to the problem of supporting true rotational archiving without relying on error-prone tape solutions. It is recommended for all rack deployments.

Deduplication, Compression, and Recovery-Archive

Recovery-Archive uses compression and typically achieves a 2:1 to 4:1 compression ratio (less if encryption is enabled.) Deduplication is not supported on Recovery-Archive because it would increase the risk of data loss in an archive environment (where there is no underlying disk-based redundancy.) One effect of this is that typically more drives are needed to do archival since the backup appliance will have deduplicated data.

This is particularly important on our 1U form factor backup appliances. Specific options are available that enable your 1U form factor backup appliance to use all 4 drives of a Recovery-Archive concurrently, which aids not only in terms of capacity but also in terms of performance.

The Recovery-Dock

The Recovery-Dock is our entry-level D2D2D rotational archiving device. It is a minimalistic solution to the problem of supporting true rotational archiving without relying on error-prone tape solutions.
