VMware Instant Recovery with Failover Virtualization

VMware instant recovery uses the Unitrends' failover virtualization technology to enable the recovery of VMware systems in just a few minutes. It works by allowing the Unitrends' backup appliance to become the provisioned virtual storage provider; thus, it support the execution of newly created VMware-based virtual machines by providing the virtual disk. Long-term recovery is then optionally performed using VMware vMotion.

  • Typical VMware recovery is less than five minutes.
  • Recovered VMware system runs on the same or a different VMware server.
  • VMware Storage vMotion is used to migrate the backup seamlessly to the new virtual machine.
  • The Unitrends appliance continues to protect your environment while one or more VMware systems are running on it.
  • Live and audit modes are supported for system failure and for VMware backup testing.
