The diagram below depicts Vault2Cloud (along with private vaulting and cross-vaulting) along with the on-premise data protection appliance and examples of the types of computers and storage that one or more of our on-premise backup appliances protect. Vault2Cloud is a service option available for a customer who wishes to have disaster recovery but either doesn't have a second location which could be used for vaulting or doesn't want to invest in a dedicated vaulting appliance and operate it privately. As shown in the diagram below, Vault2Cloud simply replaces a private vault in that situation. The core technological foundation underlying our vaulting is replication using inflight block-level deduplication. Around that technology we've crafted a fault-tolerant UDP-level transport and a sophisticated set of infrastructure services.
