Newly appointed vice president adds engineering, support and manufacturing expertise to data protection leader's management team

Unitrends, the leading provider in all-in-one backup and disaster recovery solutions, is pleased to announce the addition of Joe Balazs, formerly of EMC and NCR, as the company’s new vice president of engineering, support and manufacturing.

Balazs brings Unitrends over 30 years of impressive industry knowledge and experience, which has already proven invaluable during Balazs’ tenure on Unitrends’ Advisory Board. Balazs has contributed his expertise to expanding the backup and disaster recovery company in areas of business development, sales, marketing and technology strategies.

“I’m very excited to join the Unitrends’ family and executive team during this tremendous growth period for the company,” said Balazs. “Unitrends has exceptional commitment to its customers, partners and employees who are very talented and passionate. I am impressed by Unitrends’ vision and strategic plan for solid strategic growth and the dedication to realize its vision."

Before joining Unitrends, Balazs served for the last 10 years as the Senior Director S/W Development in EMC’s Midrange Storage Division, where he directed five global development teams and was responsible for EMC’s storage and efficiency products. Before CrossStor’s acquisition by EMC, Balazs created a world-class development center for CrosStor in just a few months. Prior to 2000, Balazs worked for NCR as a chief technical officer and architect for their servers and operating systems.

“Joe’s impressive background makes him a great fit for his new role at Unitrends,” said Mike Coney, CEO of Unitrends. “We welcome him to our team and look forward to his contributions in engineering, support and manufacturing.”
