As data volumes continue to expand, more and more enterprises are converting physical to virtual machines to avoid potential downtime. Physical to virtual (P2V) conversion enables organizations to put an effective business continuity plan in place and reap the benefits of highly available clustered systems to meet service level agreements (SLAs) for Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs).
Enter Unitrends. Unitrends Bridge™ technology provides a one-click physical to virtual capability to turn protected Windows systems into virtual machines. This technology speeds data transfer at a fraction of the cost and complexity to enable you to build a more effective backup system.
Unitrends makes physical to virtual conversion easy.
Unitrends Bridge physical to virtual conversion enables you to perform Windows Instant Recovery on Unitrends Recovery-Series physical appliances and Unitrends Enterprise Backup virtual appliances to reduce your downtime to minutes - no matter how much data you’re protecting. When disaster strikes, instead of taking time to provision new hardware or a new site, you can spin up your physical and virtual servers to meet your RTOs.
On physical appliances, Windows Instant Recovery operates at the Guest Operating System (GOS) level as well as the physical server level. On physical backup hardware, Windows Instant Recovery transforms Windows into a native virtual machine (operating on a Unitrends appliance) or, on a hypervisor, as a virtual machine registered as a client to the appliance. On virtual appliances, the virtual machine operates as a standby server and gets updated with each successive backup.
Unitrends’ physical to virtual conversion also enables you to perform host operating system (HOS)-level VMware vSphere Instant Recovery and Microsoft Hyper-V Instant Recovery onto our physical and virtual appliances. It can also perform VMware vSphere Instant Recovery on the Unitrends Virtual Backup appliance for Citrix XenServer.
