SpiceWorld 2012, Longhorns, & FREE Backup

spiceworld

When I say SpiceWorld to most folks, it instantly congers up images of the 90’s British pop group, the SpiceGirls & their movie from 1997, when it should bring to mind one of the best IT Conferences out there. Sponsored by SpiceWorks, SpiceWorld happens every October in Austin, Texas and covers topics ranging from “Learn to Speak CFO” to “Mobile Device Management: The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly”.

I had the pleasure of presenting to all of the folks participating in the pre-Conference training on Monday. It was an outstanding session about Unitrends and how our data protection solution benefits the average IT Pro. The participants were active and engaged, and asked incredible questions about Unitrends, our features and functions, and how we could help them protect their data from a single solution. Honestly, I took more away from this session than I expected. So what did I learn? That Unitrends is a spectacular data backup & disaster recovery solution that truly meets the needs of the IT Pros that depend upon our solution. Need deduplication? It’s included. Want to protect your physical & virtual clients from a single solution? We do that. Proactive monitoring? Check. Want FREE backup? We’ve got you covered.

Tuesday was a busy day of informative breakout sessions and vendor booth visits, and the buzz around the conference centerteam was positive – the sessions were informative and helpful and left many of the attendees begging for more. Most of you know that Texas is referred to as the “Longhorn State” – well the SpiceParty, sponsored by Unitrends, took this to a whole new level. There were two large Longhorn steers greeting attendees as they began a night of unwinding to the sounds of an incredible band, some karaoke, and awesome Austin street food & beverages.

Unfortunately, I had to head to the airport before the final session began, and missed the Spicies Award Presentations. As I was sitting in the Austin airport grabbing a quick bite before catching my flight back to the Carolinas, my phone buzzed with the following tweet:

“The Spicie for “Best Advisor” goes to KatieDrucker from Unitrends_Inc#SpiceWorld2012pic.twitter.com/tpediucp“.

Needless to say, I was very surprised and completely excited! I want to extend a huge thank you to the entire SpiceWorks Community including all of the IT Pros, other Green Guys, & SpiceWorks employees for making the community what it is, and for voting for me in the 2012 Spicies.

So what’s the big takeaway from SpiceWorld? That you can learn about emerging technologies, network with other IT Pros, get free Unitrends backup, and hang out with some Longhorns, all while having a great time. So who’s joining us next year in Austin?
