UNITRENDS ANNOUNCES HYPER-GROWTH FOR ITS CLOUD-BASED IT RESILIENCE ORCHESTRATION AND DISASTER RECOVERY OFFERINGS

February 07 2017

IT Resilience Orchestration and Disaster Recovery Customer Acquisition and Sales Contribute to Company’s Record Fiscal Year Growth

Unitrends, the global leader in all-in-one enterprise backup and continuity solutions, today announced record breaking growth for its cloud-based IT resilience orchestration (ITRO) and disaster recovery services. Unitrends grew its customer base significantly for its entire cloud portfolio, and associated revenue increased by over 300 percent in 2016. This unprecedented growth included gains in the areas of Unitrends Recovery Assurance and Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS), together driving adoption of a new breed of ITRO capabilities. Additional drivers of cloud-based continuity growth included Unitrends Backup for Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. Today, Unitrends Cloud protects over 100PB of customer retained data.

“Our greatest challenge has always been to ensure we have a solid disaster recovery plan in place, which is not an easy task when you are the single IT resource,” said Michael Gates, IT Manager, Mercedes Benz of Oklahoma City. “Recognizing that we needed a reliable backup solution that didn't burn a ton of management time, I wanted to use the cloud as both a secondary data storage location and a place where we could spin up our applications in the event of a disaster. We selected Unitrends Recovery 713S appliance, 1TB of Forever Cloud capacity and Unitrends DRaaS services to avoid gaps from multiple vendors and ensure that backups and storage were healthy. Unitrends’ ‘one throat to choke’ approach lets me rest easy knowing I have a fully backed up infrastructure and a tested DR solution that will keep our business running in the face of a disaster.”

“IT resilience orchestration (ITRO) automation software products, originally built to automate disaster recovery (DR) run books, have evolved to support application resilience, workload mobility and workload onboarding between production data centers and public clouds,” stated John P. Morency, Research Vice President, and Neha Kumar, Sr. Research Analyst, for Gartner, Inc. in the December 2016 Market Guide for IT Resilience Orchestration Automation.

“Unitrends is unique in its ability to address the widest range of customers in the industry, from enterprise-level data centers to millions of small businesses worldwide,” said Paul Brady, CEO of Unitrends. “Our innovative Open Sky approach to supporting not only our own purpose-built Unitrends Cloud but also hyperscale clouds such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform is unique in our industry. Our growth demonstrates the increasing demand for an all-in-one enterprise backup and continuity approach as customers rightfully want to focus on their business rather than on backup.”
